You can eat the whole rainbow and still be deficient. This is serious because your body cannot function. A good way to ensure you’re supplying yourself with missing nutrients is to take a multivitamin. However, you can’t just take a multivitamin and eat junk–it doesn’t work like that. Instead plan to supplement a healthy diet with a daily multivitamin. The multivitamin will provide additional vitamins you might have missed.

Calcium

I’d say that most of you are made up of calcium. That’s because calcium is found in your bones, teeth, and muscles. Want a good source of calcium? Go eat eggshells. I’m not kidding. You’ll find that just one eggshell provides more than double the daily recommended dosage of calcium. 1

Vitamin B12

Feeling energetic today? You can thank vitamin B12. This vitamin keeps your nerve and blood cells in tip-top condition. Different ways to get vitamin B12 are through milk, eggs, meat, and fish. If you’re a little more daring with food…bugs also have vitamin B12 (Eww!). 2

Vitamin D

Without vitamin D, you’d have soft bones and a weakened immune system. All that sounds pretty serious. Luckily, this vitamin is found in salmon, tuna, and egg yolks. You can also just go outside under the sun to get some vitamin D. No vitamin D will be absorbed if the sunlight is going through a window. 3

Fiber

First of all, fiber reduces the chances of all cancers. Once you eat it, this nutrient isn’t broken down or absorbed. Instead, bacteria inside your guts “eat” the fiber. Fiber is found in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. 4 5
